Paul A. Correa, Principal/Founder

 

Paul, Principal and founder of CPG-Consultants, has worked in the land development, green building and sustainability field for over ten years.   Paul founded CPG on the premise that he wanted to leverage his vast experience in the built environment and the policy arena to advise property owners, developers, building operators and builders of multifamily market-rate and affordable housing reach both development and energy efficiency goals.  

 

He provides strategic advice to clients on such as goals as how to lower operating costs through building systems improvements or high performance building design, obtain entitlements, reach sustainability targets and satisfy any local and or state regulatory requirements effectively and efficiently, and, on time and on budget.  



Overall, Paul brings a unique perspective on how to improve building performance and achieve green building goals through his diverse experiences working in real estate development for a market rate home builder, facility planning and operations services for large property owners such as the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, retro-commissioning services for UC Berkeley, and policy and planning consulting work for local agencies such as the City of San Jose and Hayward.  He also provide green building assistance on numerous retail establishments which include Penhaligon's, men parfume, retail store on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, and Robert Graham men's store in San Diego, California.

Recent Experience: For three years Paul assisted the Academy of Art University in San Francisco on key university facility issues as they relates to facility planning and operations, entitlement, code compliance, and government relations.

 

In his tenure at the Academy of Art University, Paul began and managed a environmental review process (EIR) valued over $1 million, successfully resolved many building and planning code violations filed against the University, and completed a draft Insitutitional Master Plan as required by San Francisco Planning Code for large academic institutions.  Paul successful assisted the Academy in re-building trust and productive relationships with the San Francisco Planning and Building Departments and numerous city officials needed to successfully address the many compliance issues facing the largest building owner in the City with over 35 buildings. 

 

Since his tenure at the Academy of Art, Paul has provided advisory services for numerous clients in need of facility operations, land planning, green building and permit services.

 

Other Professional Experience:  Paul spent over four years working for a market rate home builder, SummerHill Homes, based in Palo Alto.  At SummerHil, Paul was responsible for land acquisitions and forward planning where he successfully identified and negotiated the acquisition of over 300 residential units. 

 

Paul has also worked for the City of San Jose’s Planning & Housing Departments, Silicon Valley Advisors, LLC, a private land entitlement and land planning company, where he was registered lobbyist in the City of San Jose.  During this tenure at the San Jose Planning & Housing Departments, Paul gained a greater understanding of city planning process from the public sector side which later proved useful to his success in his private sector land development work. 

 

Paul is a former member of the Gilroy City Council and Planning Commission where he helped develop policy to revitalize the city’s downtown and advocated for affordable housing and smart growth policies.  Prior to his work in the land development field, Paul was a former political appointee for then California Governor Gray Davis working as a education policy analyst in the Office of the Governor.



Background: 

Paul has a B.S. in Political Science from Santa Clara University, an M.Ed. from Harvard University, and a Master’s in City & Regional Planning from the University of California, at Berkeley.

Alex C. Torres, Consulting Principal

Business Development & Client Relations

 

Mr. Torres spearheads CPG's business development and client relations services.  A long-time SF Bay Area resident, Mr. Torres has extensive community, legislative, government and business experience spanning 25 years.  He is the former Vice President of Community Development for nearly 12 years with Wells Fargo responsible for maintaining and attracting new high net-worth clients and acting as the face of the bank at Bay Area community and government events, organizations and with public officials.  His vast government and business experience covers many sectors in our communities ranging from affordable housing, economic and workforce development, and, financial education.  During his tenure at Wells Fargo bank, Mr. Torres worked with the City of San Jose's green energy programs promoting green energy innovation efforts to promote the financial well being of the broader community.  He has participated on numerous community and corporate boards such as the Housing Trust of Silicon Valley, San Jose Conservation Corps, "Youth Build", the Housing Foundation, and CHISPA.  


Overall, Alex is an accomplished business leader with a proven track record who is charged with building and increasing CPG's client and business services throughout Northern and Southern California.
